This can happen because your room is too warm, your bed is poor quality for your needs, you have too much light coming in your room (even lights from charging devices can be too much for some people), you drank alcohol or ate a heavy meal in the evening which raises your heart rate and stops your body from staying in deeper sleep phases, and/or you are not breathing well at night. Getting quality sleep is the other half, and you often can't tell if you got it or not, other than the fact that despite sleeping 8 hours you are still overly tired.
